Chicago Sky Rookie Angel Reese Sends Strong Message To WNBA Amid Travel Changes
Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

The Indiana Fever’s decision to hand out chartered flights for Caitlin Clark and her teammates due to security issues led the WNBA to do the same for everyone. The thing is, implementing this change has taken some time, causing Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese to send a strong message to the league.

Reese first made her mark in women’s college basketball when she led the LSU Tigers to win the 2023 NCAA Tournament. Even though she failed to replicate that feat this year, thanks to Clark’s Iowa Hawkeyes, scouts still saw a lot of potential in the forward if she ever went pro.

After the NCAA Tournament, the LSU star declared for the 2024 WNBA Draft. While Clark went first, Stanford’s Cameron Brink went second, and South Carolina’s Kamilla Cardoso went third, the former NCAA champion fell down to the seventh pick where Chicago selected her. From there, the LSU star found herself being paired up with Cardoso to form a young core that can bring another ring to the Windy City.

Just recently, the Sky faced off against the Dallas Wings in their first game of the season. The former LSU forward notched 12 points, seven rebounds, an assist, and a steal. Although Chicago fell to their opponents with a score of 87-79,  her debut looked good, as compared to that of Clark.

Chicago Sky Angel Reese Drops Strong Message To WNBA About Travel Changes

Before the game, though, the rookie posted a strong message to the league about the travel changes implemented recently. In a screenshot of that post, the Sky rookie hoped for better things ahead when it came to travelling to their games:

Of the five teams travelling on opening night, three of them weren’t chartered . These are the Chicago Sky, New York Liberty, and Phoenix Mercury. Meanwhile, the Indiana Fever and Minnesota Lynx were given the chance to take chartered flights to their games.

It remains to be seen when the full change will be implemented. If not, the league will most likely hear from Reese or other players again.
