'I was a ball kid there,' Roger Federer reveals his favorite tennis court other than the prestigious Wimbledon
Kevork Djansezian-USA TODAY

Tennis giant Roger Federer is back again, making headlines in the sport. Even though he is well retired, the headlines do not stop following him. Recently, the Swiss pro entertained the world in a recent interview with Chris Russo for Mad Dog Sports Radio.

While speaking about many things in Federer’s life, the host pondered the 42-year-old’s favorite court to play on, other than Wimbledon. Federer, who has always excelled on the grass courts of Wimbledon, picked that as his first option but also gave some other names.

Federer mentioned the US Open courts, specifically Arthur Ashe at Flushing Meadows. Furthermore, the 20-time singles Grand Slam champion also mentioned a court that is close to his heart.

Home town tournament Basel holds a special meaning for me because I was a ball kid there for two years. Said Roger Federer via Mad Dog Sports radio.

That’s not all; the tennis great further revealed that he liked the mix-up of courts and playing at different courts in different places, like Dubai, Japan, and more. A fun fact about the Basel court is that Federer was the ball-boy for Patrick McEnroe when the American played his final there.

McEnroe recently reacted to the fun interview and even fact-checked the fact that Federer was indeed his ballboy.

Such a great interview by Mad Dog Sirius ….And yes it’s true…Roger Federer actually did ball boy my match!!! He must have learned from me!!!!

The rest of the interview was very exciting, and Federer was even shocked at the host for remembering every minor detail of his career even without notes. The week only escalated for Federer, who recently released the trailer for his new documentary, “Federer: Twelve Final Days.”

What started as a documentary for himself will premiere on Amazon Prime on June 20th. It traces the last few days of Federer’s Tour up until the sad moment at the Laver’s Cup.
